Apply for EDGAR Access—Applicants With an EDGAR Central Index Key (CIK) Account but No Access Codes: Broker-Dealer or “Paper Filer” Seeks Electronic Access for the First Time in Order to File Electronically on EDGAR
Follow these steps to apply for EDGAR access if you would like to file electronically on EDGAR and have not previously done so, and
- You have made paper filings (only) with the SEC; or
- You have an assigned EDGAR Central Index Key (CIK) account number as a result of making submissions on a related filing system, such as FINRA WebCRD.
- Go to the EDGAR Filer Management website. Use your Login.gov individual account credentials to log into the website.
- To obtain Login.gov credentials, select Sign in with Login.gov on the Filer Management portal. You will be redirected to Login.gov to create individual account credentials. For more details see How Do I Obtain Login.gov Individual Account Credentials or view the Obtaining individual account credentials video on the SEC’s YouTube channel.
- After logging in, you will see a dashboard including a section titled Apply for EDGAR Access. Expand that section.
- Select Existing EDGAR Account.
- Enter the filer’s existing EDGAR CIK account number.
- If you do not know the filer’s EDGAR CIK account number, you may look it up in the EDGAR Company Database. Enter the name of the filer in the search box and, if an account exists, the EDGAR CIK number will be included within the information returned.
- Select Broker-dealer or “paper filer” seeks electronic access for the first time in order to file electronically on EDGAR.
- Select Continue. Form ID will appear.
- Complete and submit Form ID
- Please refer to the instructions accompanying the form, the EDGAR Filer Manual, Volume I, and How Do I Prepare and Submit My Form ID Application for EDGAR Access.
- The Form ID will be pre-populated with data existing in EDGAR for the filer’s CIK. You may update information when you complete Form ID, however, this will not update the data on EDGAR. If the filer’s Form ID application is granted, the filer may update information on EDGAR by submitting a company update submission (COUPDAT). See How Do I Maintain and Update Company Information.
- If the Form ID application is granted, the SEC will send an email to the account administrators listed on Form ID.
- Account administrators listed on Form ID need Login.gov individual account credentials to log into the dashboard on the EDGAR Filer Management website to manage the filer’s EDGAR account. Use the same email address on Form ID, for Login.gov individual account credentials, and to log into EDGAR.
- Refer to How Do I Obtain Login.gov Individual Account Credentials or view the Obtaining individual account credentials video on the SEC’s YouTube channel.
- Immediately upon obtaining Login.gov individual account credentials, account administrators should log into the EDGAR Filer Management website to confirm they can access the dashboard.
- Account administrators manage the filer’s account on the dashboard, including by adding users, account administrators, and technical administrators, if needed, and delegating authority to file to a filing agent, for example, if they wish to do so.
- Refer to the instructional video Overview of EDGAR Filer Management dashboard on the SEC’s YouTube channel, as well as How Do I Understand EDGAR Roles and How Do I Invite, Remove, and Change the Roles of Individuals.
- Account administrators listed on Form ID need Login.gov individual account credentials to log into the dashboard on the EDGAR Filer Management website to manage the filer’s EDGAR account. Use the same email address on Form ID, for Login.gov individual account credentials, and to log into EDGAR.
