Supported browsers for EDGAR

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are the supported browsers for the three EDGAR filing websites (EDGAR Filing Website, EDGAR Filer Management, and EDGAR Online Forms Management). The Safari, Opera, and Firefox browsers are not currently supported.

Your browser must support JavaScript to use EDGAR. If you experience any issues, be sure that JavaScript is enabled.

Avoid issues with firewalls; add EDGAR to trusted sites

If your browser security settings are set at the highest level, the EDGAR filing websites may not load properly. If you encounter this problem, add the EDGAR filing websites to your browser’s list of trusted sites.

If you continue to experience issues, you may need to contact your system administrator for further assistance with internal network and firewall security settings.

Ensure the standard URL is entered; avoid URL autofill

When you start a new session on EDGAR, make sure the URL is not being autofilled in your browser. For example, to access the Filer Management website, you must type the standard version of the URL, https://www.filermanagement.edgarfiling.sec.gov NOT https://www.filermanagement.edgarfiling.sec.gov/Welcome/EDGAR...

Clear browser history, cache, and cookies

Browser history, cache, and cookie files stored on your local computer may cause an error when loading the EDGAR filing websites. To ensure proper loading of these websites, you may need to clear previously stored files from your computer.

  • In Chrome, go to Customize and control Google Chrome or Settings (click on the three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data, check all three buttons > Clear data.
  • In Edge, go to Settings and more (click on the three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear.

Clear autocompleted data and disable the autocomplete feature

EDGAR forms require filers to input company data. Your browser’s autocomplete feature remembers how you filled out information in previous web forms. While this feature simplifies filling out similar forms in the future, it may cause issues with editing form data in EDGAR.

If you are unable to edit the data on your form because there is data already filled in from a previous filing:

  • In Chrome, go to Customize and control Chrome or settings (click on the three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Autofill > slide/click to disallow as needed
  • Edge disables this feature by default. To ensure it is, go to Settings and more (click on the three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Profiles > Addresses and more

Customize the pop-up blocker to allow sec.gov

Some EDGAR submission form types will open in a separate browser window. In order to view these forms, your browser’s pop-up blocker must allow pop-up from sec.gov.

  • In Chrome, go to the Chrome menu icon (three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > click on Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects > Add [*.]sec.gov as allowed.
  • In Edge, go to Settings and more (click on the three stacked dots in the upper right-hand corner) > Settings (it opens a separate tab) > Cookies and site permission > Under the Site permissions section, Pop-ups and redirects > Add under Allow [*.]sec.gov

How to address error messages such as “form already in progress” and timeouts

  • If you see a “form already in progress” message and are unable to continue, you must log off EDGAR and log back in. (This message may appear when there is an active form open in a separate window or if the form window was not properly closed using the exit button.)
  • If you see a discontinued login session or timeout message, close then reopen your browser to start a new session. If the issue persists, you may need to configure your browser (see above for instructions) and also clear your browser history and cookies. Multiple login attempts may trigger a session timeout, locking you out of the site. Wait 15-20 minutes and then try to login again.
  • If you are timed out because you have forgotten your password or your password has expired, you must reset your password (refer to Understand and utilize EDGAR CIKs, passphrases, and access codes for instructions).
