The EDGAR Business Office (EBO) manages all aspects of the EDGAR program, an ecosystem of services and systems that support the SEC's public filing regime.
While the EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) system is the most prominent feature in this ecosystem, other key components include EBO's Filer Support operations; software and system support teams; EDGAR full-text search; Public Dissemination System and SEC.gov dissemination processes; and EDGAR-Information for Filers and news and announcements webpages. EBO further governs strategic improvements to EDGAR; oversees EDGAR system and software development for SEC rulemakings and other matters; and leads rulemaking related to the administration of EDGAR in Regulation S-T and the EDGAR Filer Manual.
The following groups comprise EBO.
The Office of Chief Counsel is responsible for legal matters concerning EDGAR, including but not limited to issues arising in the administration of EDGAR and related rulemakings.
The Filer Support group, including the Filer Support branch and the Escalations and Access branch, communicates with filers and manages requests for access to EDGAR. In addition, the Filer Technical Support group responds to filer requests for EDGAR technical assistance.
The Development Office provides program management, technical and operational support, and coordinates with SEC divisions and offices on EDGAR development and technical issues.
The Business Management Office is responsible for the business operations and general administration functions of EBO.
