Biography

Christian Sabella
Christian Sabella
Acting Director

Christian Sabella was named acting director of the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets in January 2021. Prior to this appointment, he was the deputy director for that division, a position he has held since 2018.

Mr. Sabella joined the SEC in 2011 and has served in a number of roles with the staff, including as associate director for the Office of Clearance and Settlement in the Division of Trading and Markets.

Prior to joining the SEC, Mr. Sabella worked as an associate specializing in structured finance and OTC derivatives with Shearman & Sterling LLP.  Mr. Sabella earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
