The SEC announced an API (Application Programming Interface) is now available on data.sec.gov, making corporate disclosures quicker and easier to access. The API includes real time entity information and submission details and XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) data from financial statements (forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, 20-F, 40-F, 6-K, and their variants) in a JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) format.
