Qualifying Households by Financial Criteria (1989 - 2022)

This data visualization shows the number and percentage of U.S. households that would have qualified as accredited investors under the existing income and/or net worth criteria applicable to natural persons from 1989 to 2022.  We estimate households and not individuals because the database underlying our analysis measures wealth and income at the household level. The overall number of households qualifying under either the income or net worth criterion is smaller than the sum of the number of households qualifying under the income and the number of households qualifying under the net worth criterion because some households qualify under both criteria.
