DERA Visiting Scholars

To supplement the expertise of DERA staff on various projects, DERA annually invites reputable Visiting Scholars from academic and other federally funded institutions. Generally, a Visiting Scholar is an individual employed by a university, typically a Professor, who is detailed to the Government but remains employed by his/her university. The university is reimbursed for the academic salary and benefits via an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) contract. The term is typically one to two years. The individual must have a Ph.D. in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a similar quantitative field, and must demonstrate evidence of a strong research background in the area of economics, finance, or accounting. A Visiting Scholar performs the work of a Financial Economist.
