In support of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, staff from the Miami Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission participated in two resource fairs with local community groups to help raise awareness about elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. The resource fairs took place in Miami and Miami Beach, Florida and were attended by seniors, family members, and caregivers. Our staff discussed the importance of investor education and protection, and provided tips and information, which included “red flags” seniors should look out for when making an investment decision.
