Notice of Filing of Proposed NYSE Governance Changes

Washington, D.C., Nov. 7, 2003 - The New York Stock Exchange today filed with the Commission a proposed rule change, SR-NYSE-2003-34, under Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 that would amend the NYSE Constitution to implement a series of governance changes at the NYSE. The proposed amendments are subject to Commission approval, as well as approval by NYSE members at the special meeting scheduled for Nov. 18, 2003. Interested persons are invited to submit comments concerning the proposed rule change with the Secretary, Securities and Exchange Commission, 450 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20549-0609. All submissions should refer to file number SR-NYSE- 2003-34. The Commission is submitting the Notice of Filing of the NYSE proposal for publication in the Federal Register, and comments on the proposal should be submitted within 21 days of its publication.
