Deputy Inspector General for Operations and Management

Ms. Albert is the managing executive of the OIG and has oversight responsibility for the organizational business function of the OIG and for managing the Dodd-Frank mandated SEC Employee Suggestion Program wherein the OIG receives from SEC staff allegations of waste, abuse, misconduct or mismanagement or communications for improvements in the work efficiency and effectiveness and use of resources within the SEC.

Prior to joining the SEC OIG in July 2019, Ms. Albert served as the Acting Inspector General and Principal Deputy Inspector General for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In those positions, she oversaw the operations of a large nationwide organization of auditors, investigators, evaluators, counsel, and support staff including managing complex financial and program-related oversight activities. Prior to serving in this role, she was the Assistant Inspector General for Management and Policy supervising business-related functions of the agency. Previously, she was the Director of External Operations at the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General. Ms. Albert was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2003 and is the recipient of numerous governmental awards for excellence and of executive training.

Prior to joining the Inspector General community in January 1997, Ms. Albert served for over a decade in the U.S. Senate as the Chief Investigator of two Senate committees focusing on counter-narcotics and fraud-related issues. Preceding her many years of federal service in the executive and legislative branches, Ms. Albert worked in New York City for a number of firms in the legal and financial fields.

Ms. Albert received her Bachelor of Arts with honors from the State University of New York at Binghamton and did graduate work in International Relations and National Security at the George Washington University.
