Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the temporary provision for brokers to refer to themselves as financial planners. This is a decision that should be reversed and a final ruling should end this attempt by the brokers. As a banker, I am well aware of the confusion that surrounds the entire concept of financial planning within the financial services industry. Although I do not practice as a planner, I strongly believe that planners should undertake the education and then conform to the professional standards and ethics of the FPA. Otherwise the public ought to understand that they are buying product from someone who is selling product, just as I am selling banking products when I function in that capacity. Thank you
