I am against brokers and other sales oriented registered representatives RRs of broker/dealers from being able to call themselves financial planners/advisors FPs. It is difficult enough for the public to distinguish true planners from salespeople without the intentional clouding of the issue by the B/Ds. There should not be two standards. There is a distinctive difference between registered representatives of a firm selling products and independent financial planners and advisors offering advice. RRs are not necessarily trained to give financial advice. So, the public is being misled. This would help the public distinguish the planners and advisors from the sales people in the business who intentionally make it look like they are FPs. Thank you.
