I have a great deal of the money I am saving for retirement invested in Mutual Funds. I am concerned that the brokers/companies who sell them to me may have reasons other than my well being for recommending some of them to me. Although I might still invest in a mutual fund that also provides a benefit to the broker, I think I have the right to do it knowingly. Im especially concerned since there have been major ethical issues at brokerages in the recent past.
Sad to say that we need more and more safeguards to protect ourselves but I do think this one is important and I would be pleased to see safeguards such as you propose put in place.
