Updated EDGAR Ownership XML Technical Specification (Version 1)

Effective Date: October 14, 2005

The EDGAR Release 8.7 XML Reduced Content Specification has been updated and renamed. The new EDGAR Ownership XML Technical Specification is re-baselined at Version 1 to coincide with the reorganization and re-baselining of the EDGAR Filer Manual. It will no longer follow the EDGAR release version numbers, and may not be updated for each release. Filers should consult the SEC's Public Website (http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar.shtml) to determine the current version of the document. The current version number of the document will be posted and the updated document will be highlighted as "NEW."

The following changes have been implemented:

• The title of the document has been changed from "EDGAR Release 8.7 XML Reduced Content Specification" to "EDGAR Ownership XML Technical Specification, Version 1."
• Replaced "reduced content" terminology with "filer-constructed." The "reduced content" terminology no longer accurately describes the usage of this specification.
• The EDGAR OnlineForms Website has been changed to the "EDGAR OnlineForms/XML Website." The modified name better reflects the usage of this website.

No technical changes have been implemented in this version of the document.

The following EDGAR Ownership XML Technical Specification documents detail the valid structure and content of the six EDGAR Ownership submission types (Forms 3, 4, 5, 3/A, 4/A and 5/A).
