I have been interested in hedge funds for some time, but am not eligible due to the monetary requirement (i.e An accredited investor). This rule eliminates the vast majority of Americans from the opportunity to invest in these funds. Considering how easily investment money can, and frequently does, "evaporate" in convention stock investments, I would suggest, with some minimal oversight, these funds could provide additional opportunity, without necessarily more risk. Many of us are capable of making intelligent decisions, or at least hiring a money management professional to advise us. Rather than incresing the requirements, please be kind enough for the "other" 95 plus percent of Americans to have equal access.
