I recently completed a financial planning course of study
at Merrimack College and passed the CFP exam in Nov 04
and the Series 65 last week.

My prior 20+ years as a finance professional in high tech
industry and self investor I had NO idea of the disparity
in requirements of disclosure and liability for all the
different people that provide financial services to the public. My feeling is that if you provide any type of
service you should be required to disclose your relationships
on how you are paid and have equal liability among ALL the
providers of this type of service....its never incidental
when the provider advertises or infers through advertising
that the service is being provided.

I think the SEC has an opportunity to restore faith in the public that the govt is looking out for THEIR best interest.
