SEC Announces Agenda for Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies

Washington D.C., Dec. 11, 2014 —

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the agenda for the December 17 meeting of its Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies

The meeting will focus on the definition of “accredited investor.”  Under the federal securities laws, certain securities offerings are exempt from registration only if the securities are sold to persons who are accredited investors.  The Advisory Committee will hear presentations on issues surrounding the accredited investor definition from David M. Certner, Legislative Counsel and Legislative Policy Director, AARP, and Marianne Hudson, Executive Director, Angel Capital Association.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 in the multipurpose room at SEC headquarters, at 100 F Street, N.E., Washington, D.C.  The event, except for the administrative session, is open to the public and will be webcast live and archived for later viewing on the SEC’s website. 

Members of the public who wish to provide their views on the matters to be considered by the Advisory Committee may submit comments electronically or on paper.  Please submit comments using one method only.  Information that is submitted will become part of the public record of the meeting.
