Margaret M. SmythVice President & Controller, United TechnologiesPeggy Smyth recently relocated to Hartford, CT to join United Technologies as its Vice President and Controller. In this role, Peggy is responsible for many of the global finance functions for this $50 billion +, Dow 30 diversified company that provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries. Peggy had previously been Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of 3M in St. Paul, Minnesota and a senior partner at two leading global accounting and professional services firms in New York City. Peggy earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Fordham University, New York, and her master’s degree in accounting from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business, graduating Summa Cum Laude from both. She is a CPA in several states and a member of various professional organizations, including the Executive Board of the Financial Executives International Committee on Corporate Reporting and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) Global Preparers Working Group. Peggy has recently or currently serves as a Director/Trustee for the following not-for-profit organizations: Concern Worldwide (U.S.) Inc., Fordham University, Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Peggy is also an independent Director of Mutual of America Investment Corporation. In 2006, Peggy was selected to join the Aspen Institute’s Henry Crown Fellowship Program for young leaders.
