Jörgen Holmquist

Before his appointment to DG Internal Market and Services, Mr Holmquist served as Director General of DG Fisheries and Maritime Affairs. He has also held the position of Deputy Director General of DG Budget and of Director in DG Agriculture.
Before joining the European Commission, Mr Holmquist served in the Swedish government. He spent most of his career in the Swedish Ministry of Finance where he dealt with economic policy and particularly public sector budgeting. He also spent 7 years in Washington DC, USA on behalf of the Ministry of Finance.
Mr Holmquist was born in Stockholm in 1947. He is married and has two children.
