Subject: File No. S7-8-99 Date: 5/6/99 4:40 PM Dear Sir/Ma'am The purpose of the email is to vent my frustrations at the inability of CharlesSchwab web site to remain on-line during periods of heavy usage with that site. Today, 6 May, is not the only time I've had the problem, however the excuse I received via telephone was probably the best received to date "everybody else is having the problem, too!" This type problem has been going on with Schwab for months, however, nothing apparently is being done to correct the problem.Scwab will probably tell you, you can always contact their brokers via a toll-free number, true if you would like to wait ten minutes to talk to a broker. When I contacted customer service today at 1555, I was told this was their worst situation and they would probably be down for one hour. I am sure that those of us who trade on-line would appreciate anything the SEC can do to rectify these type problems in a timely manner. Sincerely William Langenwalter 928 Virginia Ave. Virginia Beach,Va.23451
