re: File No. S7-36-02From: Eric Rucker [eerucker@earthlink.net] Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2003 5:01 PM To: rule-comments@sec.gov Subject: re: File No. S7-36-02 Securities and Exchange Commission people: I am writing to express my appreciation for your willingness to consider the voices of "regular" people like myself who wrote to you when you were debating whether to institute rules requiring disclosure of proxy voting policies, procedures, and voting records by mutual fund managers. I am sure you were all subject to great pressure from many individuals and groups who claimed to speak in favor of "the right thing for everybody" while secretly believing that they had the most to gain or lose by the proposed changes. I believe that the decision you made was an important step in the direction of truly benefitting everybody -- even those who work only for personal gain. You all deserve admiration for what appeared to be a vote of careful consideration and conscience. I believe that the best roads to long-term, sustainable economic growth will be the moderate and ethical roads that do not spoil the planet, benefit everybody, and that consider the gain of the poorest to be the best long-term gain for the richest. If you do not already, I hope you come to see the ways in which your work has having far-reaching effects, and to to do your best to help good things come to pass. Sincerely, Eric Rucker 386 Fort Washington Avenue New York, NY
