Del Monte Foods Company (NYSE: DLM) supports the request for an extension of 
the effective date for Regulation FD included in NIRI's letter of September 
21, 2000 to the Commission.  For the reasons expressed in that letter, we 
believe that an extension is appropriate and will assist registrants in
