Date: 12/17/1999 5:58 AM Subject: SEC proposals to eliminate selective disclosure Sir/Madam, I am writing only to applaud recent SEC moves to end the practice of selective disclosure of information on publicly traded companies by encouraging said companies to use the Internet and to open conference calls to a much wider public than is currently given access. I am an individual American stockholder representing no one but myself. I have seen first-hand how the conference call has been used to discriminate against individual investors by disclosing material information to a small, preselected group of analysts, most of whom ultimately feel pressured to boost their ratings in return for early access to the news.
