Date: 03/21/2000 7:01 PM Subject: Rule FD Why should the brokers and large dealers get the truth, and the rest of the world get a selectively edited version. The only intent I can see is to skin those who don't have access to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Those with privileged information skin those who are ignorant. I have read that " your broker is not your friend". From what experience I have with full service brokers, they try to sell you their brokerage inventory, whether or not it fits your needs, they are no more accurate or prompt with the buy and sell orders, and in general, they do not convey to the public any more information than necessary to sell the product they are offering. There is more than enough misstatement in the market. The truth, to everyone big and small should become the standard. Eliminate the mechanism whose only contribution to the economy amounts to some type of special interest bribery, which can be used to "steer" public response in the direction the company involves deems appropriate. The only chilling effect I can see is that the truth, and only the truth can't be manipulated as easily, and that seem to be a good thing. J Bell
