Date: 1/12/98 10:17 AM s7-25-97 Subject: s7-25-97 Dear Senator Boxer: As a a long time supporter of yours in California I write today to you and to your fellow Senators to urge you to vote against the restriciton of shareholder rights that is coming up to the SEC. As a shareholder in a number of companies have felt that I was able to express my social and political concerns through my votes; I and millions like me would be severely hampered in an important means of expression. I use only one example, that of the resitance to MAXXAM'S destruction of the old growth redwood forests; shareholders large and small have used pressure on Charles Hurwitz to get him to respect a widely-supported effort to save the trees. Without the rights we have as shareholders, we would indeed have less rights as citizens. REspectfully, Barbara L. Baer 6195 Anderson Rd Forestville, CA. 95436
