The public should have a right to know about exhorbitant compensations, for the overall efficiency of the firm and for potential corruption. Consider public officials and nonprofit leaders and board members. *The public knows the salaries of public officials. Salaries beyond $200,000, not to mention millions of dollars, would not be tolerated for public leaders. Although caps cannot be set on corporate salaries, investors should be able to know this information before making their decisions. *Nonprofit board members are unpaid, and good nonprofit organizations have strict conflict of interest policies. Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Kathleen Staudt, PhD Professor of Political Science
