From: Peter.Wall@ftse.com Sent: Friday, December 12, 2003 12:03 PM To: rule-comments@sec.gov Subject: File No. S7-19-03, commenting on the company director election pr ocess Dear Comissioners & Staff of the SEC, I wish to add my voice to those supporting SEC rules that permit shareholders to have greater access to the company director election process. Responsible ownership of companies can only be achieved when the owners are most directly involved in the selection of their representatives on the board of directors. Any regulation supporting greater independence of Board members of publicly-traded companies from company management, and greater dependence of Board membership on shareowners' support, can only have a long-term beneficial effect on corporate governance and our economy at large. Minimizing obstacles to shareholder participation in determining shareowners' collective interests, and who represents our interests in overseeing company management, should be an ongoing goal of the Commission. Thank you for this opportunity to comment. Sincerely yours, Peter Wall 7449 Idylwood Road Fall Church, Va. 22043 ********************************************************************** This e-mail and any attachments may contain confidential or privileged information.
