Mr. Arthur Levitt, Chairman SEC Washington, DC Mr. Levitt: I have just finished reviewing the Profile Prospectus in the August edition of Mutual Funds Magazine. As a long term and large scale investor in mutual funds, I typically examine literally dozens of mutual fund prospectuses each year, and I strongly encourage you to adopt a more user friendly form such as the sample contained in this magazine. In their current form, fund prospectuses are mind numbing exercises in discouraging rather than informing investors. I'm not sure even lawyers can wade through all the legal nonsense that they currently contain. Please help to make them simple, concise and to the point. The market needs more informed investors, and you could help save a few trees along the way. John F. Peters 71052.1006@compuserve.com
