July 10, 1996 Arthur Levitt, Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission 450 5th Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20549 Dear Mr. Levitt: I am sending this note to encourage the SEC, under your leadership, to approve the use of the profile prospectus for the mutual fund industry as soon as possible. I am an educated and experienced mutual fund investor; yet I still find the long form prospectus overly technical and confusing. The profile prospectus is easier to read, easier to understand, and would let me (and millions of other investors) make more informed investment decisions than does the conventional prospectus. The profile prospectus lets key risk factors be spelled out in straight forward fashion, something that is sadly lacking with the current form (and not improved by the Statement of Additional Information). Mutual fund investors need, and deserve, a user-friendly prospectus instead of the cumbersome document currently used. Please give us your support and ask the SEC to act now in our behalf. Thank you. Sincerely yours, Denis J. Hom, M.D. 2715 62nd Ave. S.E. Mercer Island, WA 98040-2428 docdenis@aol.com
