Date: 08/11/2000 3:11 PM Subject: File No. S7-16-00 Proposed Disclosure of Order Routing Thank you for considering the proposed rule to disclose order routing and costs by broker/dealers. Without this knowledge, brokers are able to collect fees at investors expense without the investors' knowledge. I think you should adopt this rule and I strongly support it. I am only an individual investor, not having any professional affiliations. I have recently opened an on-line (internet) trade account. The access and ease of trading is great; however, I do think that the brokers should be disclosing any of the information influencing the costs. Especially if they are being paid to send orders to certain market makers. Thank you. Gary L. McFarland 213 Hillview Dr. Goleta, CA 93117
