Should 12b-1 fees be eliminated or restricted? This is the same question recess monitors ask themselves when a bully hurts someone with the kickball. "Should we stop everyone from playing kickball during recess?" The logic behind eliminating a good thing for everyone because of the abuses of a few is absurd! Apparently, it didn't stop after elementary school. No, 12b-1 fees should not be eliminated. Rather, the offenders should be caught and appropriately dealt with. Many of us increase our client's wealth and well being by NOT charging fees and working off commissions. These small fees are valuable compensation to the advisor for the ongoing service to the client. Let's try to make a win/win solution. Let's make it profitable for advisor's to stay in business AND make it profitable for our clients to be in the market. tfay Terry C. Fay |
