Date: 11/18/97 1:08 PM Subject: File No. S7-26-97 / Association of Nebraska Community Action Jonathan G. Katz, Secretary US Securities and Exchange Commission Dear Secretary Katz, The Association of Nebraska Community Action Agencies is opposed to HR 944 and HR 945. The bills would be difficult and expensive to implement, and would likely have the effect of severely restricting corporate charitable donations. Greater corporate accountability to shareholders could be a good thing. However, these bills seem more interested in defunding charities that some Congressional representatives don't like, rather than increasing accountability to shareholders. If these bills go forward, they must apply the same rules to expenditures of corporate funds for lobbyists, political campaigns, etc. Sincerely, Lorrie B. Benson, Executive Director Association of Nebraska Community Action Agencies 605 S. 14th Street, Suite 412 Lincoln, NE 68508 (402)471-3714
