April 4, 2019
Miami, FL., April 4, 2019 — In support of National Financial Capability Month, the Miami Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission is once again working with local high schools, universities, veterans and military groups, as well as senior investors, to teach the importance of financial literacy and provide tips on how to avoid becoming the victim of investment fraud.
SEC staff from the Miami Regional Office will participate in outreach presentations at several high schools, universities, veterans’ centers, and senior events in Miami-Dade and Broward counties as part of National Financial Capability Month. This marks the third consecutive year in which the Miami Regional Office has helped educate its local community about personal finances.
"Without financial literacy, making, keeping, and growing your money is especially challenging," said Eric I. Bustillo, Director of the SEC's Miami Regional Office. "We need to teach our community the importance of establishing healthy personal financial habits."
