The SEC kicked off National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15) with a panel discussion to celebrate the contributions of Hispanic-Americans both at the agency and across the country. Hosted by the SEC’s Hispanic and Latino Opportunity, Leadership, and Advocacy Committee, the Sept. 17 event at the SEC’s Washington DC headquarters featured former SEC Commissioners Troy Paredes and Roel Campos discussing their Hispanic heritage and experiences in public service.
The discussion was moderated by Chairman Jay Clayton, and touched on a variety of topics, including the former Commissioners’ favorite memories from the SEC and their lives since leaving the agency. They also discussed the positive effects of diversity and the importance of spreading financial literacy to every community.
