Deputy Inspector General for Audits, Evaluations, and Special Projects (Acting)

Kelli Brown-Barnes is the Acting Deputy Inspector General for Audits, Evaluations, and Special Projects at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Office of Inspector General (OIG). In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing the OIG's audits and evaluations of the agency's programs and operations, as well as special projects.

Ms. Brown-Barnes has more than 25 years of auditing and information technology experience in the Federal Government. Her experience includes serving as a supervisory auditor overseeing information technology related audits, evaluations, and special projects conducted by the SEC OIG. She is also the Chair of the SEC OIG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Prior to joining the SEC OIG, Ms. Brown-Barnes served as an Automated Review Policy Specialist in the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets for nine years conducting inspections of Self-Regulatory and Clearing Organizations.

Ms. Brown-Barnes is a graduate of Bowie State University, where she received both her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Master's degree in Administrative Management.
