Lane, Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Corporation Finance, today announced that he will leave the Commission to become a partner at the law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, based in their Washington, DC office. Mr. Lane will specialize in corporation finance issues. SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt said, "Brian will be greatly missed at the SEC, but his legacy will continue through his many contributions and accomplishments during his 16 years of service. I wish him the very best as he embarks upon this new chapter of his career." Mr. Lane said, "I am fortunate to have worked with so many talented, intelligent, and hardworking colleagues at the SEC. I will look back on my time at the Commission with great fondness and respect. Mr. Lane, who joined the Commission in 1983, was named Director of the Division of Corporation Finance in March 1996 by Chairman Levitt. Prior to that he served in a variety of positions throughout the Commission, including counsel to Chairman Levitt, counsel to Commissioner Richard Roberts, and staff attorney with the Divisions of Corporation Finance and Market Regulation.
