FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 99-117 First Annual Municipal Securities Roundtable Agenda Released Washington, DC, September 20, 1999 -- The Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of Municipal Securities today released the agenda for its First Annual Municipal Market Roundtable, which will be held on October 14, 1999, at SEC headquarters in Washington, DC from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The roundtable will provide a forum for all municipal market participants, including issuers, underwriters, bond counsel, financial advisors, scholars, and regulators, to explore current issues in disclosure and other practices in the municipal marketplace. Senior officials from the Commission's Divisions of Market Regulation, Corporation Finance, Enforcement, and Investment Management, and Offices of General Counsel and Municipal Securities will also participate. Office of Municipal Securities Director Paul S. Maco said, "Our primary goal is to promote candid and constructive dialogue among the various industry players. Having leaders from all segments of the municipal market together at one table will contribute significantly to the industry's ability to understand its various goals and better achieve them." Chairman Arthur Levitt will open the roundtable with introductory remarks. There will be four panel discussions, each led by a moderator. The roundtable will be open to the public and free of charge.
