                  TRANSACTION FEE RATE ADVISORY



     Washington, D.C., October 7, 1997 -- The Securities and
Exchange Commission currently is being funded in fiscal 1998 under
a continuing resolution (CR) that carries forward all of the
funding and fee rate authorities available to the Commission in its
fiscal 1997 appropriation.  The term of the CR is until October 23,
1997, or the enactment of a regular fiscal 1998 appropriations
bill, whichever occurs first.  Accordingly, fees on transactions in
Nasdaq securities imposed by the Commission's fiscal 1997
appropriation continue to be in effect.
