FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 97-79 COMMISSIONER WALLMAN SETS DEPARTURE DATE Washington, D.C., September 23, 1997 -- The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Commissioner Steven M.H. Wallman will officially leave the Commission on or about September 30, 1997, pending the completion of Commission business. Following his departure, Commissioner Wallman expects to become involved in various business and public policy pursuits. Mr. Wallman is currently considering several private sector positions or starting his own business in the finance, technology, and electronic commerce fields. He will make a decision soon. In addition, the Commissioner will maintain his involvement in public policy by becoming a non-resident, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, where he will focus on a variety of discrete projects, including electronic commerce and financial services. # # #
