Office of the Chief Accountant Selects Three Professional Accounting Fellows

Washington, D.C., Aug. 22, 2007 - The Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of the Chief Accountant has selected three professional accounting fellows for two-year terms beginning this fall:

  • Adam Brown, currently a senior manager in BDO Seidman LLP's National SEC Department based in Dallas, Texas;
     
  • Robert G. Fox III, currently a senior manager in Grant Thornton LLP's Professional Standards Group based in Charlotte, N.C.; and
     
  • Brett A. Williams, currently a senior manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's National Office based in Florham Park, N.J.

"I look forward to working with this highly experienced group of individuals as we study the very important subject of improving upon the leading financial reporting system in the world. They each have a unique background and distinct area of expertise, which I believe will significantly enhance our ability to help investors better understand the financial statements upon which they rely," said Conrad Hewitt, SEC Chief Accountant.

At the Commission, the newly selected professional accounting fellows will be involved in efforts to improve upon the current system of financial reporting, development of rule proposals under the federal securities laws, liaison with the professional accounting and auditing standards setting bodies, and consulting with registrants on accounting and reporting matters.

The three will join the current professional accounting fellows - Mark J. Barrysmith, Ashley W. Carpenter, Muneera Carr, Jeffrey E. Ellis, Josh K. Jones, Sandie E. Kim, Katrina A. Kimpel, Robert B. Malhotra, and Liza McAndrew Moberg.
