FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2000-27 Estee S. Levine Named Counselor to Chairman Arthur Levitt Washington, DC, March 9, 2000 -- Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Arthur Levitt today named Estee S. Levine Counsel to the Chairman. Ms. Levine succeeds Tracey E. Aronson, who was named Director of the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. Ms. Levine commences her new duties immediately. Ms. Levine will be focusing on investment management and international issues. Chairman Levitt said, "I am pleased to welcome Estee to my staff. During these interesting and dynamic times Estee's counsel on a variety of issues will be important." Ms. Levine joined the SEC's Office of General Counsel in 1997. Most recently, Ms. Levine served as Senior Special Counsel in that office, specializing in issues involving corporation finance, accounting, and international affairs. Prior to joining the Commission, Ms. Levine practiced corporate and securities law at the law firm of Baker & Botts, LLP in Washington, DC.
