EDGAR Rel 8.8 Reduced Content XFDL Filing SpecificationIn support of the EDGAR Release 8.8, implemented on August 23, 2004, the EDGAR Reduced Content XFDL Filing Specification was updated. The EDGAR Release 8.8 Reduced Content XFDL Filing Specification can be downloaded via the links below. The EDGAR Release 8.8 Reduced Content XFDL Filing Specification provides, to those filers that are interested, a basis for creating XFDL filings without the use of the EDGARLink. The expectation is that software developers, working on behalf of filers, will construct software that will generate an XFDL filing that can be successfully parsed by the EDGAR Receipt Server. A summary of the changes is provided as follows: Changes include minor updates to submission Templates 1, 2, 3, and 5 and EDGARLink software that are based on recent SEC requests and rulemaking activities. EDGAR Release 8.8 server software will support all of the field identifiers that were valid in the Release 8.7 version of the PureEdge templates. Changes by TemplateThe following changes are called out in the appendices. Please refer to the appendices for details. Template 1
Template 2
Template 3
Template 5
There are two elements to the specification that can be downloaded separately. The first, the specification itself, gives you details about the release, general instructions on the templates, general rules about the XFDL file being created and specific rules on the XFDL nodes containing data elements. It also includes information on the content of the appendices and some sample documents. The second document is in MS Excel format and gives the specific requirements for each form type.
