EDGAR Rel 8.10 Reduced Content XFDL Filing SpecificationIn support of EDGAR Release 8.10 (available to the public as of February 7, 2005), updates were made to the EDGAR Reduced Content XFDL Filing Specification. The revised specification is currently available via the links that appear at the end of this document. The EDGAR Release 8.10 Reduced Content XFDL Filing Specification provides guidance to interested filers for creating XFDL filings without the use of EDGARLink. The expectation is that software developers, working on behalf of filers, will construct software that will generate an XFDL filing that can be successfully parsed by the EDGAR Receipt Server. This Release introduces minor updates to submission Templates 1, 2, 3, and 5 and EDGARLink software. These changes, based on recent SEC requests and rulemaking activities, are supported by EDGAR 8.10 server software. All field identifiers that were valid in the 8.9 version of the PureEdge templates continue to be valid in 8.10. Changes By TemplateA summary of Release 8.10 changes are as follows (please refer to the appendices that appear in the XFDL specification for details): Template 1
Template 2
Template 3
Template 5
There are two elements to the specification that can be downloaded separately. The first is the specification itself which contains details about the release, general instructions on the templates, general rules about the XFDL file being created, and specific rules on the XFDL nodes containing data elements. It also includes information regarding the content of the appendices and some sample documents. The second document gives specific requirements for each form type.
