Date: 9/20/97 1:06 PM Chairman Arthur Levitt Secuities and Exchange Commission Judiciary Plaza, 450 5th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20549 phone (202) 942-4150 e-mail rule-comments@sec.gov RE: Cracker Barrel discrimination, File No. S7-25-97 Dear Sir: Discrimination of persons is wrong, no matter who and/or for whatever the alleged purpose of the discrimination is for. I myself, will not knowingly do business with an establishment which is known to be prejudice, whether it be for the color of one's skin, the person's gender, the person's sexual orientation, or for one's age. To do so would make for support for a business which violates the basic rights of any person who is subject under the Constitution of the United States. Furthermore, sir, may I remind you that as a representative of the government you are sworn to uphold the Constitution. The Constitution clearly states that "all men [meaning humankind] are created equal" and should be treated as such, that each of us have equal rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Sir, I myself am a municipal employee for the City of Ocala, Florida, and also have been an employee of the State of New Hampshire, and of the U. S. Department of Defense. I have not, nor would, nor will perpetrate nor perpetuate discrimination in any shape, way, or form. Neither should you, nor other government employees, especially in the course of their duties to the U.S. public. Discrimination against one entity in any society in any shape or form is discrimination against all of society. Respectfully yours, L. H.
