Subject: Shareholder resolutions Author: Christine Beard Date: 12/4/97 1:42 PM Dear Sir or Madam, I strongly oppose any regulations which are designed to reduce corporate accountability and responsiveness to shareholders. Shareholder resolutions are often the only means shareholders have to influence the decisions made by the corporations in which they have invested. Corporations and wealthy investors already enjoy an overwhelming abundance of power. Shareholder resolutions by small shareholders (either as individuals or in groups) are needed as a balance to that power -- a balance which is in the best tradition of democracy.
