Subject: File #S7-18-96 Author: Neil Webner Date: 4/22/97 1:03 PM This is to support the recommendations being made in subject file to permit mutual funds to sell shares on the basis of their responses to nine questions. I would also like to see annualized total returns for the preceding 10 years or such shorter period since the inception of the fund. This information should be sufficient for most investors to analyze to determine whether they require any further investigation prior to making the investment. For my part, I research Morningstar, the net and other resources long before making any request for prospectus. I find the prospectus to be of virtually no value in judgong an investment. However, I do favor the requirement that at least some minimal information be provided by the fund prior to accepting new share purchases from investors. I urge adoption of the recommendations contained in this file.
