Dear Chairman Levitt:
     
I recently became aware of the consideration by the Securities and Exchange 
Commission to permit funds to use profile prospectuses.  The format for these 
documents in the material in which I read of the proposed prospectuses appear 
to be an important step forward.  
     
I understand that the new approach has been under revue for the past 3 years.
 Further, I understand that it will take possibly another year or two to
become fact.  May I respectfully suggest that the SEC make every effort to 
initiate the action necessary so that profile prospectuses can be in the 
hands of the mutual fund investor at the earliest possible date.
     
May I have an indication of the status of the profiles prospectuses.
