Subject: Mutual Funds:  No Profile

Ladies and Gentlemen:
     
I oppose efforts to change the rules and let mutual funds sell their product 
by use of a profile. I want better prospectus information like Vanguard 
supplies rather than a watered down profile. Supplying the prospectus after 
the sale of the product would do little to remedy the situation. The solution 
is a better prospectus and remembering that the shareholders are the owners 
of the mutual fund not mere consumers of a product. Given the unprecedented 
profits which Wall Street is enjoying, I   don't think the mutual fund 
industry should be allowed to avoid their responsibility for getting good 
information to their potential shareholders. A better prospectus is the best 
solution to problem of investing intelligently.
