There are several primary concerns regarding the proposed rule alteration. The first concern revolves around the modification of margin requirements for volatile stocks. The aim is to prevent clearing members from defaulting, which could potentially lead to a systemic crisis. The second concern pertains to the perceived lack of transparency in the proposal, which appears to unfairly favor clearing members over other investors. Furthermore, the post criticizes the OCC for being self-regulatory while also blaming regulators for not providing sufficient protection. Lastly, I strongly disagree and oppose this proposed ruling.
