Something that has been a big turn off to the stock market as of late has been the blatant abuse of shorting a stock. You do all the research on a company and you buy stock and it starts going up only to have hedge funds and MMs take over and drive the price back down and it is so obvious to everyone watching the Level 2 bid action. But the little guys, the retail investors that don't have billions to invest see there minor savings slashed in a matter of hours. This rule is a step in the right direction. Doing away with naked shorting of stocks would be the next thing. And giving everyone an option to not have their shares lent out to others to short would be the next thing. Then the balance will be fair.
